Glory Days

Al Bundy

Al Bundy

My fear is to have “glory days.” Seems like a silly fear to most people, but the reality is, is that glory days only exist as a reminder of what you once were, and how things used to be when you were awesome. Glory days are what folks hang on to once they’ve come to grips with their own unreached potential. When for whatever reason (life is tricky) they’ve had to concede to something “normal.” Sounds harsh, but I think it’s true.

I am doing everything I can to make sure that every year is full of glory days, and that I’m getting better and better at my craft, and every other facet of my life so that I never have to say, “Those were the days.” I’d prefer “Those were the awesome days before things got really good!”

I don’t wanna be Al Bundy. I can’t be Al Bundy. I’m working hard to NOT be Al Bundy.

His four touchdowns in one game at Polk High (Married with Children was an awesome show) could just as easily be me kicking poems at the University of Maryland at seventeen.

Naw.

That was just the beginning of good. The base of what I hope to be an everlasting incline. It ain’t always gotta be a steep, it just has to be going up.

Give me the GLORY LIFE!
